As a Package Engineer at BENTEC, Berat Su plays a key role in ensuring that complex rig components come together seamlessly across major projects.

“I’m responsible for making sure every package is delivered exactly as specified,” he explains. “That means working closely with our internal teams and suppliers to keep everything aligned from design through to delivery.”

His work connects multiple functions across engineering, procurement, QA, manufacturing, logistics, and project management, ensuring that technical requirements, timelines, and quality expectations stay on track.

“Ultimately, it’s about coordination,” he says. “When communication flows and issues are solved early, everything moves much more smoothly.”

He also sees his role as a bridge between disciplines.

“You’re constantly translating between teams. Technical details, timelines, expectations. That connection is what keeps projects moving forward.”

A Career Built on Progress and Innovation

Berat began his career in 2012 in well testing and logging across oil, gas, and geothermal operations before moving into planning and directional drilling.

During this time, he was part of a team that helped pioneer remote operations by combining MWD and directional drilling responsibilities into a next-generation model.

“That shift reduced operational risk significantly,” he says. “It showed how powerful it is when you connect the right systems with the right people.”

Since joining BENTEC in 2023, he has continued that journey, working on projects that bring together advanced engineering and practical application.

“My curiosity for engineering never switches off. I tend to notice technical details everywhere,” he says. “It’s just part of how I see the world.”

“What keeps my work exciting is seeing how it turns into real results,” he adds. “You’re not just designing something, you’re contributing to safer, smarter, and more reliable operations.”

In a fast-moving project environment, challenges are inevitable. But for Berat, they’re also where the most value is created.

On a recent rig capacity upgrade, a mid-project design change combined with tight timelines could have caused major delays. Instead, the team adapted quickly.

“We restructured our workflow and aligned on the new priorities,” he explains. “That allowed us to keep everything on schedule despite the complexity.”

For him, success is simple.

“When I can complete my tasks, move on to the next challenge, and hear ‘thank you for your support’ that’s when I know things are working.”

He also emphasises the importance of anticipating problems early.

“Once you identify risks before they become issues, you not only save time, you build trust across the whole project.”

Berat sees the energy industry evolving rapidly, shaped by smarter systems, real-time data, and increasing automation.

“Technology is making everything more efficient and reducing uncertainty,” he says. “But at the same time, it’s creating a need for specialists who really understand their field.”

He believes the future will be more digital, more collaborative, and more cross-disciplinary.

“Collaboration takes the lead,” he explains. “No matter the size of the project, you need to bring people together and stay adaptable.”
