Connecting People, Processes, and Projects

Maryam Alqatari, Document Controller, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

At BENTEC, we know that behind every rig, system, and solution is a network of people that keep work flowing, information aligned, and teams connected. And part of that network is Maryam Alqatari.

Having joined us recently as a Document Controller based in Saudi Arabia, Maryam has quickly become part of the engine that keeps our projects moving.

“I’ve learned a lot in a short period,” she says. “Working with structured systems, diverse engineering teams, and well-defined processes has helped me grow professionally and strengthened my confidence in my role.”

The people behind the processes

Maryam’s day-to-day work involves receiving, reviewing, organising, and distributing documentation while coordinating with multiple departments to ensure everything is accurate, up to date, and issued on time. But for her, document control is about far more than systems and compliance.

“I enjoy being part of the workflow and supporting different teams,” she explains. “My role connects people and information. When documentation is clear and accessible, everyone can work better.”

Roles like Maryam’s are critical to our entire operational ecosystem. Without structured document control, projects slow down, risks increase, and decision-making can become fragmented. Her function creates the stability that allows engineering, operations, and delivery teams to perform at their best.

“Technology is moving our work toward data-based, automated, and collaborative problem-solving. But people still bring judgment, creativity, and realistic thinking."

Digital systems, human intelligence

As the energy sector becomes increasingly compliance-driven, technology has become essential in supporting that shift and roles like Maryam’s are now more central than ever.

“Since I started my career, the industry has evolved significantly, driving the need for more advanced digital systems,” she explains. “As a Document Controller, that means ensuring critical information is available whenever and wherever it’s needed, managing digital platforms, streamlined workflows, and stricter standards. Documentation has never been more essential to project success.”

Although technology is a driving force in transforming our industry, she’s equally clear that people remain central.

“Technology is moving our work toward data-based, automated, and collaborative problem-solving,” she explains. “But people still bring judgment, creativity, and realistic thinking. Investing in people strengthens our company, because skilled, motivated employees drive innovation, performance, and long-term success.”

For her, the most valuable company assets will be the people who can learn quickly, think holistically, and work across disciplines, connecting systems, teams, and ideas in the same way support functions connect the business itself.

Today’s work, tomorrow’s impact

Maryam sees BENTEC as a place where reliability and innovation work side by side, creating a foundation for long-term progress and change.

“Every task I complete contributes to the bigger picture,” she says. “It reminds me that everything I do today supports the transformation we are driving tomorrow.”

In a business built on complex projects and global collaboration, Maryam’s story is a reminder that transformation doesn’t only happen in engineering design rooms or on field sites. It also happens in support functions, structured processes, and the people who keep the entire system connected.

Because in the energy industry, it’s not just about what you build. It’s about how well your entire ecosystem works together to deliver it.
